QA Specialist
Omnego Inc. is a young, vibrant company poised to change the way consumers and businesses transact and interact through mobile technology. Formed in 2008 by a team of seasoned software professionals, Omnego has developed a hosted, web-based platform and companion mobile Smartphone application that will shape the future of how businesses of all kinds leverage the emerging mobile Smartphone channel.
We need to grow our team, and we are currently looking to fill a position in our Toronto office for a QA Specialist.
The successful candidate will be the first QA resource to join our existing technical staff of 6 very senior architects and software engineers. This individual will need to excel at creating and then executing their own approach to producing timely, high-quality deliverables - without a lot of supervision. The right person will be bright, articulate, flexible, and eager to proactively take on a variety of different tasks and responsibilities. They will have a demonstrable track record of making a clear and positive impact within their daily work activities. They will also find this opportunity to be exciting and empowering rather than scary and intimidating. These traits will be emphasized over and above any particular laundry list of degrees, technical experience, or skills.
The individual should also have these personality traits:
- Extreme attention to detail, being a perfectionist almost to a fault
- Open-minded attitude, and the ability and willingness to constantly learn from people around them
- Excellent communications skills, both orally and in written forms (in English)
The nature of the work we anticipate includes the following:
- Ability to create effective test plans and test cases to compliment and extend the test scenarios that the developers execute
- Ability to test a web-based Ruby On Rails (RoR) application across all major browsers including IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc. on both Windows and Mac OS
- Ability to test secure web services
- Ability to test a native Smartphone application across all major Smartphone platforms including iPhone, BlackBerry, Symbian, Android, etc.
- Ability to assist with light product documentation or copy editing
Any of the following would be a plus:
- JavaScript/AJAX testing experience
- Experience with web performance/stress testing (i.e. LoadRunner)
- Experience with automated testing tools
- Looking farther out, the ability to establish an appropriate test infrastructure supporting functional tests, automated regression tests, performance tests, and stress tests of production web applications and web services
Our technical environment consists of open platforms running Linux, Apache, and MySQL, also including Subversion and (soon) Trac. We work within an Agile project management methodology (Scrum).
